Being a spiritual leader requires personal sacrifices and also draws naysayers who try to demotivate, mockers that level personal attacks, and even those who will make threats. Nehemiah deals with all of this opposition by turning to God and refusing to become discouraged.\r\n\r\n

For many Christians, the balance between using their minds to strategize and depending on God is difficult to find. Nehemiah is a great example of someone who was extremely strategic in reaching his goals, while at the same time remaining diligent in prayer. Ultimately, Christian workers need to learn how to take an honest look at spiritual goals and the barriers to their fulfillment, and be ready to take a step of faith.

Moses returns to Egypt and confronts Pharaoh. Pharaoh responds by making life harder for the Israelites. What appears to be a failure turns out to be part of God's leadership training. Moses learns God is the one who will do the work. Christian leaders will experience failure, difficulties and opposition, but they can be encouraged that God uses all these things for his purposes.

When God Calls

When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses focused on his own failures and inadequacies and did not want to do it. God responded by challenging Moses to trust in God's plan, presence, and power. When God calls us, we must follow his lead and rely on the same promises God gave to Moses.
