The Upper Room

Dennis McCallum
John 13:1-17

Practicing a self-sacrificial, others-centered lifestyle is actually far more fulfilling and joyful than living a life serving self. Christ was the ultimate example of this as he chose to take the role of a lowly servant and washed his disciples' feet the night before his death.

The Humble Messiah

Dennis McCallum
John 12:12-34

We, like the Jewish people of Jesus' day, are ready to follow God only if He meets our expectations. This type of religious devotion is superficial and outward. Jesus did not meet the expectations of the people of his day. Instead of being a powerful ruler, he was a humble servant. He will come back one day and conquer Satan and the power of sin once and for all. We have a choice to lives our lives in sacrifice to others as well.

Death: The Final Foe

Dennis McCallum
John 11

Death is heart breaking and unavoidable. But God has given us the solution to death through His son's payment of our sins on the cross. Jesus conquered death through his resurrection. We now have the option to live forever with Him.

The Cross of Christ

Jim Leffel
Galatians 6:11-16

The central message through Paul's letter to the Galatians has been the cross of Christ. As Christians, our boasting should come from the incredible work of Jesus Christ at the cross which gives us a new lens of viewing the present world. As a result of our new identity in Christ, we are able to live in this world with peace, as we understand God's grace and mercy towards us and await our real home in eternity with Him.

The Crucifixion

Chris Lang
John 19:31-33

Throughout the Bible we see that Jesus going to the cross was God's ultimate plan for salvation. In the details of Jesus' crucifixion we see the lengths that God went to, to forgive humanity's sin. Jesus experienced scourging, mocking, humiliation, and ultimately death on a cross. Through His death God demonstrated His perfect love and forgiveness.

The Secret Wisdom of God

Dennis McCallum
Ephesians 3:8-10

God encountered rebellion from Satan before the beginning of this world, and He set in place a plan to show His loving and gracious nature. In the Old Testament God predicted the coming of both a suffering servant and a messiah king. These two personas were pictures of Jesus sent as both a sacrifice for mankind and a conquering savior.

Two Wisdoms or the Way of Humility

Dennis McCallum
Ephesians 2:8-9

Paul juxtaposes the human wisdom of this world and pride to God's wisdom and humbling yourself before God. We desire to earn our own salvation as we fix our lives, but God tells us that He is the way to salvation and that only He can offer lasting fulfilment and meaning. The cross is God's payment for humanities sins.

Aftermath of the Cross

Dennis McCallum
Luke 24:1-9

After Jesus is crucified and buried, his followers are shocked to discover an empty tomb and a resurrected Christ. How can we know the resurrection happened? The evidence is impressive, and we are left with a convincing apologetic for the validity of the Bible and Christianity as a whole.

People Around the Cross

Dennis McCallum
John 19

While Jesus went to the cross, the people around Him responded in many ways. From top Roman officials to other prisoners, they all reacted to Jesus. How will we react to him?
